27 Sep The common cold- how to recover quickly

Do you or your kids ever have annoying and lingering common cold symptoms? These might include chronic congestion, post nasal drip or a cough that takes forever to go away. These symptoms might only lasts a few days or, they may persist for weeks on end and might require medications to suppress the symptoms. Do you ever wonder if there is a hack that can speed up your recovery?
Well I am about to share a trick that works… but you’ll need to try it to believe me. It’s called warming socks treatment. It requires little prep and should be done just before going to bed (i.e.: after teeth brushing and any other habits that might have you walking around). Here’s how you do it:
Start with warm feet
If your feet are warm, you can skip this first step.
If your feet are cold, warm them through friction, a warm blanket or a hot foot bath. This is an important step; if you bypass it, the treatment won’t work and you will likely feel cold all night long.
Get 2 pairs of socks:
You will require 2 items: a pair of short cotton (ankle) socks and a pair of big warm socks. Reading or wool socks work great.
Follow these simple steps:
Take your cotton ankle socks and wet them in cold water, then wring them out well, so they are damp.
Take both pairs of socks to your room and sit on your bed. Begin by putting on the damp socks, and then putting the big warm socks overtop. Avoid walking around to ensure that the warm socks stay as dry as possible.
Go to sleep:
Get into bed and begin your calming bedtime routine. whether you read, listen to music, meditate. Once you are done, go to sleep keeping the socks on all night long. IF your feet feel cold, bundle them under your blanket.
What you can expect when you wake in the morning:
When you wake, you will notice that both pairs of socks are dry and your feet are warm. You will also notice that your sleep is better (considering you have a cold) with less congestive discomfort and less coughing throughout the night. As you do this during cold, you will notice that your cold moves down through your sinuses and your chest much more quickly.
Limiting factors:
There is one limiting factor: sensory issues. Some people really don’t like the sensation of damp socks on their feet. Many people find this mildly uncomfortable for a few minutes, but quickly get past the odd sensation. Some kids need to try it, to want to stick with it- so if you can convince them to try one night, chances are they will feel better and understand the benefits and be open to trying again.
Who shouldn’t do this?
This is not recommended for anyone who is pregnant are may be pregnant. The process is one that draws energy down and we DON’T want to this in a pregnant woman.
So next time you get a cold, give this odd but effective treatment a go. I think you’ll be pleasantly surprised!!!
